Brief history of the MKZ by Alien Ness

The Zulu Kings were created on the same day Zulu Nation was, November 12 1973, and the were to be the official Bboy crew for the Zulu nation. This concept came about since the five brothers who helped Afrika Bambaataa organize the Zulu Nation, were all Bboys! The original members of the Zulu Kings are as followed: Ahmed Henderson, Aziz Jackson, Shaka Reed, Kusa Stokes and Zambu Laner.

BBoying- the Dance

For me the essence of every dance is: expression of the soul, spoken through the body and guided by music. If you are someone who just does moves and/or does them fast so it looks like you are hitting everything, I don’t consider you a Bboy at all, I call you a tricker/acrobat/yoga/whatever.

Locking and Popping / Electric Boogie

Electric boogie is a style of popping (ticking).
Both locking and popping or ticking originally came from Los Angeles.
Popping was created by street dance crew Electric Boogaloo.
Locking was created by The Lockers.
Both locking and popping existed a long time before breaking was born.

HipHop ain't no Hula-Hoop, no matter what the trend spotters say. In 1984, of course, Hip Hop was hot news. Everywhere you looked, you could see Hip Hop in one or more of its manifestations: break and electric-boogie dancing, rap music and granite. Then the media moved on, leaving the impression that Hip Hop was a fad. Here today, gone later today. Over and out. But tradition just don't work that way.
