WINNER DUTCH BEATBOX BATTLE 2010: IBARRA
On October 24th Zulu Nation Chapter Holland and B-There joined forces in organizing the Dutch Beatbox Battle 2010 (DBB 2010) in W2 Pop Podium in Den Bosch (as a part of the B-There Festival). At stake was the most wanted title "best Dutch beatboxer". Doors opened at 15.00 and not long thereafter the roof went off as a result of the high quality fierce battles and the smashing showcases by DJ DNS and Dutch rapper Fresku.
At the end of the day the highly competent jury, consisting of Beelow (organizer of the Beatboxing World Championship), Sniggy (DBB 2007 winner) and Primitiv (reigning Belgian beatboxing champion), crowned Ibarra from Den Bosch as the legitimate winner. Losing finalist and DBB 2010 runner-up was FreezySFX, also from Den Bosch. The DBB 2010 ended with a banging showcase by the jury, Ibarra and every beatboxer who still wanted to show the audience their vocal skills.

VLIEGUREN by ARVID
We announce the release of the album Vlieguren by Arvid. The album is powered by MadPat, producer and member of Zombi Squad and Zulu Nation Chapter Holland. Vlieguren is about to set a new standard for producers in the Netherlands, states Arvid.
A musical upbringing that took him from MC to producer, to partial studio owner. Arvid has taken a musical journey at 26 that many will still dream of throughout their lives. As an MC and front man of his high school HipHop group Sanctio, Arvid laid a solid foundation for the rest of his musical career. The group had a pretty successful run of performances in mostly local clubs from '95/'96 till roughly around 2005. Aside from Sanctio Arvid started a side project named Vers2 in 2002/2003. The reason for starting this side project was a desire to work with beats instead of a band. With Vers2 Arvid began producing his own beats and performing more as an MC/Producer. The highlight for Vers2 was a performance at the SPLASH Festival in Germany in 2004, made possible by Zulu Nation. Arvid had started to develop himself from a beatmaker to a producer under the guidance of Holland's legendary Zombi Squad and Zulu Nation member MadPat. Which eventually led to running the studio owned by MadPat in the city of Groningen.
During this period of time Arvid also started the producers collective 10Kilobeats. A collective of producers from the city of Groningen that worked together as a team to inspire each other and share one another's network. With this collective Arvid has had the opportunity to work with Artists like: Baatin (Slum Village), Ty, Trek Life, Foreign Beggars, Wordsmith(USA), and many more Dutch artists.
With more gear and freedom to produce at his disposal Arvid began creating the style that defines him as a producer. Heavily influenced by Opaque's (Norway, Tommy Tee Prod.) Gourmet Garbage album, Arvid set about to work on a project that would become known as 'PULP'. The album never made it as an official release due to numerous factors. Although 'PULP' was never released officially it still functioned as the basis that created the official debut album 'Vlieguren' (Dutch for Flighthours). 'Vlieguren' is a debut album with an international character. A multi lingual collection of MC's has worked with Arvid on the album. Languages that can be heard on the album vary from Dutch to English to French to Portuguese. As a debut album 'Vlieguren' sets a new standard for producers in the Netherlands and perhaps even worldwide.

expositie op Radar
Op jongerencentrum Radar, onderdeel van Scala Welzijn, vind vrijdag 22 oktober de opening van de expositie "Specs" van Kasper Jongejan uit Almere plaats. Met deze expositie wil het jongerencentrum laat zien dat kunst helemaal niet duf en saai is maar juist inspirerend, flitsend, energiek en kleurrijk. "Veel jongeren met interesse in graffiti ontwikkelen zich tot vormgever. Door dit soort exposities kunnen jongeren extra geprikkeld worden iets constructiefs met hun talent te doen, het kan hen zelfs helpen bij het kiezen van een opleiding" aldus jongerenwerker TimSki. Jongejan is daar een voorbeeld van. In 1997 komt Jongejan in aanraking met graffiti. Sindsdien werkt hij veelvuldige voor opdrachtgevers. Sinds enkele jaren heeft hij zich ook toegelegd op het schilderen op doek en grafische vormgeving. In 2007 lanceerde hij zijn eigen t-shirt merk dat twee collecties per jaar op de markt brengt. Eerder dit jaar studeerde Kasper Jongejan af aan de Artemis Styling Academie.
De expositie bevat zo'n twintig schilderwerken, customized toyz en exemplaren van het door Jongejan uitgebrachte boek "De muur en andere spots, Graffiti in Almere". Ook zullen er t-shirts met zijn ontwerpen te zien zijn. Op de openingsdag zal hij graffiti aanbrengen op de legale graffiti wand bij Radar.
Natuurlijk is de kunst op Radar niet alleen boeiend voor jongeren. Ook ouderen zijn van harte welkom om de werken te bekijken en het bezoekersboek te voorzien van commentaar. Radar hoopt hiermee een voorportaal te kunnen zijn voor jongeren die met kunst bezig willen zijn. Scala medewerker TimSki: "Wij zijn laagdrempelig, bij ons kunnen ze ontdekken, experimenteren, hun talent ontwikkelen. Vandaar uit kunnen we ze desgewenst doorverwijzen naar andere organisaties, waar ze zich vaktechnisch beter kunnen ontwikkelen".
De opening is vrij toegankelijk en duurt van 19.00 uur tot 23.00 uur. De expositie duurt van 22 oktober tot 31 december en is te bezichtigen tijdens openingsuren van Radar. De opening wordt opgeluisterd door dj's en rapper DRT uit Almere.
