About Battle Of The Year

The Battle Of The Year, in existence since 1990, has become one of the most important B-Boying events in the world in the meantime. The event places emphasis on the B-Boying part. The dance competition, which is the biggest B-Boying championship of the world, is the center of attention.

If only five hundred spectators came to the first event in 1990, ten thousand adolescents and artists from all over the world traveled to Hannover for the Battle Of The Year in 2000. Since the year 2001 the BOTY found a new location and city with the Volkswagen Halle in Braunschweig. Since 2001 around nine thousand people attended the annual BOTY International, turning the city of Braunschweig into a Hip Hop capitol for the weekend.

Dance teams from countries such as South Africa, Japan, Brasil, Korea, Japan, Russia or the USA, supplemented by appearances of (inter)national rap groups and DJs, make today’s BOTY an annual highlight of Hip Hop culture.
